About the Program

Music to My Lp(a)™, brought to you by Silence Therapeutics, is a memorable, immersive and educational experience that leverages the power of music to bring to life the impact of different Lp(a) levels.

Each of the stanzas were artfully composed to bring to life not only the impact of a person’s Lp(a) level, but also the presence of other cardiovascular risk factors, each represented by the following instruments.

Our Composer

Silence Therapeutics partnered with Mark Wood, Emmy-Award winning electric violinist and founder of Wood Violins, to compose musical stanzas that bring to life the different levels of Lp(a) and impact of other cardiovascular risk factors.

To start, we developed three musical stanzas that represent three levels of Lp(a) – low, elevated and high – with the presence of other cardiovascular risk factors including3:
  • Family history – defined as a close family member (parent, child, brother or sister) who at an early age had heart disease, a heart attack, or stroke (before age 55 for males, and 65 for females) or presence of familial hypercholesterolemia, or FH, which causes dangerously high levels of LDL cholesterol beginning early in life
  • Blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • LDL level
  • Coronary artery calcium level

Lp(a) Levels

While there is no generalized consensus on Lp(a) risk thresholds, growing evidence supports three main levels.4
